The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly good news to all who believe, both then and now.
Too often it seems that so many think they need to somehow make Jesus relevant or original for today. In reality this only shows that he is most likely not relevant in their own lives.
Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last. Jesus Christ is the timeless truth.
Too often I believe Paul’s ‘becoming all things to all men’ is misconstrued. In seeking to ‘make Jesus relevant’ for today, we often actually pervert the gospel for the sake of originality.
C.S. Lewis said, “Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: ‘whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring two pence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”
Brothers and sisters, don’t seek to change Christ, for that will never work but let Christ change you! Men are as in need of Jesus in all His goodness and truth today as ever they have been. The grace, mercy, truth, hope, justice, and love of God in Christ Jesus is as powerful today as ever it has been.
The message of Jesus will only have it effects seen in the lives of those around us if Jesus has first changed us and we are walking and talking like the people God has called us to be.
